Ratings
I've been rating books (since 2016) and movies (since 20201) for quite a while now, and a personal grading scale has emerged. I'm not claiming that it's very unique, but still, it's different from how some people seem to use it (or how I used it when I was younger).
I'll explain a 5 star based rating scale that I use on diverse platforms, including my lists here and how to interpret them.
★
Trash category. Don't bother. Avoid or regret. Possibly doesn't even qualify functionally as the type of media it aspires to be.
★★
Bad but at least adheres to minimal elements to qualify. Has some redeeming qualities. Only check it out if you are really into the stuff.
★★★
Decent. Nothing special. Good but with major flaws.
★★★★
Good. Definitely no waste of time. Great with some flaws. Has impact on your life. Can recommend.
★★★★★
Perfect. Almost flawless. Enlightening. Sublime. A definite enrichment of your life.
And in less ordered fashion since 2009.↩
